We guide you through Afro-montane forest, indigenous plants , and pristine Fynbos. We will explain the geological formation of the mountain, why there is more plant species on the mountain than on the whole of the UK, and give details on interesting facts such as which butterfly pollinates the Red Disa , the role of fire in the rejuvenation of fynbos, what mammals, birds and reptiles are found on the mountains, and much more.

This is a day trip that includes collection from accommodation, drive and park at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens. There we enter the gardens, which is the starting point for the walk on or up the mountain. There are a number of walking routes on the mountain. We will choose one on the day that suits the weather conditions, time available and the fitness of the walkers.

Optional : You can also choose to walk up the mountain from Kirstenbosch using the "Smuts track" to the highest point at Maclears Beacon, then walk along to the Upper cable Station and get the cable car down to the City Bowl. This is a great option to get stunning views across the city.
