For those who arrive early, be sure to visit Johannesburg's chilling Apartheid Museum. Then, journey through the spectacular Mpumalanga Province along the famous Panorama Route. Stop at Blyde River Canyon for extravagant views over the region unfolding below.
Days 3- 4 Kruger National Park
The wildlife experience begins on passing through the gates of the Kruger National Park. An open-vehicle night drive is a chance to see the savannah's most secretive animals. Early next morning, head out on more game viewing and birdwatching safaris.
Day 5 Hlane Royal National Park
Enjoy Swazi song and dance at a cultural village before continuing on to Hlane to track white rhinos on foot. While tucked up safe in the cosy lodge, listen out for the rumbling roar of lions, the symbol of this tiny kingdom.
Days 6-7 Mozambique Beach Camp
Cross the border into Mozambique, home to 2,500 km of stunning sandy coastline with jade waters full of tropical fish. There's plenty of time here to dive beneath the glistening waters to explore the pristine coral reefs or perhaps just relax and enjoy the lush surrounds.
Day 8 Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park/ St Lucia Estuary
Visit South Africa's most celebrated park - the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi, home to the Big Five and a whole lot more. Explore the scenic banks of Lake St Lucia, where a huge diversity of animals live.
Day 9 Durban
The adventure comes to an end in South Africa's second largest city. It's worth spending extra time in Durban exploring the city's beaches and vibrant nightlife.
